Broadbeach has two patrolled areas that ensure safe swimming for everyone. From October to May, the dedicated volunteer lifesavers from Kurrawa and Broadbeach Surf Clubs are on weekend duty. Every other day of the year, professional Council lifeguards patrol a network of beach towers. Broadbeach is one of the major destinations for holiday makers on the Gold Coast. Kurrawa Beach enjoys a reputation as a safe bathing location and hosts some of Australia's major surf life saving competitions. A wide pedestrian shopping and a café precinct lies just off the beach, with children’s play equipment and fairground rides that operate all year.
